(Malavida)

anglais The filmmakers wrung everything from Orwell's legendary chilling allegorical fable that made it good, and what remains is a smelly patchwork that doesn't even provide any of its own ideas in addition to the alarming ones. It's as if someone wrote the script by making marks in the book and blacking out what was essential. Comparing paper to celluloid is never really fair, but this is a barbaric rape that asks for the audience’s intolerance quite bluntly, and the ending definitely confirms it. ()

anglais Well, I wasn't too thrilled with it. Granted, I haven't read the book, but clearly it must be better... Maybe it's the fact that something like this is cartoonish, maybe it's the fact that I read 1984 by Orwell and kept thinking about that other story while watching this one, but this just didn't really engage me, grab me, or leave anything in me. A weak 3 stars. Too bad, because I was quite curious and excited. ()

anglais The premise of this film is incredibly chilling, so it could be expected that its tone would change a bit, but fortunately only slightly. Even so, it is tolerable. "Animal Farm" still remains a captivating and breathtaking fable that showcases the significance of power in our society, like few other things ever written or filmed. ()

anglais Both the book and animated film are excellent. It is a classic that will not be surpassed even by the most modern animated family films from Pixar'. Overall impression: 90%. A satirical allegory about how revolutions quickly rot and former revolutionaries can easily become new masters. ()
