Résumés(1)

Inspiré d'une histoire vraie, le film retrace l'incroyable voyage d'un groupe d'esclaves africains. Maîtres de leur bateau après une mutinerie sanglante, ils essayent de rejoindre leur pays natal. Lorsque le navire, La Amistad, est arraisonné, les esclaves sont conduits aux Etats-Unis où, jugés pour meurtre, ils attendent leur sort en prison. La bataille acharnée autour de leur procès attire l'attention de la nation toute entière et met en cause les fondements du système judiciaire américain. Mais pour les hommes et les femmes emprisonnés, il s'agit tout simplement du combat pour le respect d'un droit fondamental et inaliénable: la liberté. (texte officiel du distributeur)
