Duo à trois

A somewhat plankish 1980s baseball drama that at times evokes the end of the experimental 1970s thanks to shallow characters and a very relaxed atmosphere. Of course, the main asset is the leading trio, which you'll admire more in terms of acting talent than anything else, because when you look at the aforementioned actors today, several decades apart, it's just great fun to see a shivering Tim Robbins, a consistently "get laid" Susan Sarandon, and a soft-spoken, good-guy Kevin Costner, who, by the way, here trained his facial expressions for The Bodyguard, where he had a considerably better written character. There's little worthwhile about baseball, but it does have a lively vibe and it’s OK as a sports comedy. (22/08/2017)

An interesting comedy that can show you why baseball is fun, but also that even actors you consider elite can let loose and entertain. Susan Sarandon is incredibly charming here, but it is mainly Robbins and Costner who steal the show in the end, as it is slightly more focused on them. It doesn't matter at all, because it is not boring. (30/01/2016)
