I'm horrified and shocked at the same time. It’s a verbatim quotation of von Sternberg's original film in color 30 years later. It stars Curd Jürgens and May Britt (one of the many Swedes who have attempted careers throughout Europe and America). There’s no inventiveness, no modern treatment, and no return to the book. Instead, it’s just a cheap copy from a-z. (22/12/2011)
