Homer, vieux garçon introverti tombe amoureux de Faye, une jeune figurante ambitieuse et prête à tout pour arriver à devenir une star. Un soir, Homer la surprend dans les bras d'un autre homme. Furieux et humilié, il met un terme à leur relation. Mais un soir, au cours d'une de ces avants premières où se presse tout Hollywood, il découvre que tout le monde était au courant de l'infidélité de la jeune femme.
