Cinema, as portrayed in this Italian documentary by Marta Zani, Antonio Falduto, and Stephen Natanson, is the most urban and industrial art. Cities are formed through volumes, shapes, images, signs, and languages as sites of memory, imagination, and commerce. But it is only in film that they become a dynamic visual element that helps tell stories and define characters. The city - its places and spaces, presences and absences - becomes the subject as well as the object of film. From set construction and reconstruction to the interpretation and processing of physical space - from the real city to the invented one of myths, icons, and models - Cinearchitecture aims to offer a reflection on the art of film in relation to its environment.
