Somewhere between Győr and Budapest a group of bandits shoot down a French aeroplane carrying gold, which they then steal. An attempt is made to smuggle the stolen gold out of the country, baked in loafs of bread. Chief police inspector Báthory is in charge of the investigation, but he gets seriously wounded by Sonja Grygorine, a Russian dancer, leader of the bandits. Bálint György, a clever journalist working for Evening News on criminal assignments, and Mr. Cadar, an incompetent and clumsy journalist from Paris carry on with Báthory's job. Bálint's true help is no one else but Éva, Báthory's daughter, who discovers the bandits' hiding place in the hills of Pilis. The two young people fall in love with each other during the investigation, get married at the end of the film and set out on their honeymoon on an aeroplane ornamented with flowers.
