Homme de main du régime de Vichy, condamné pour avoir exécuté quatorze prisonniers juifs, Pierre Brossard a, depuis la fin de la guerre, paisiblement vécu dans le plus total anonymat. Bénéficiant d'une protection haut placée au sein de la police française, il trouve refuge auprès de dignitaires catholiques qui l'accueillent dans leurs monastères et abbayes. Alors que l'instruction de l'enquête pour crimes contre l'Humanité est relancée, une organisation secrète envoie au même moment des tueurs sur les traces du fuyard pour venger les victimes de Pierre Brossard. Traqué, acculé, celui-ci se jette dans une fuite éperdue, n'hésitant pas à commettre des crimes pour échapper à ses poursuivants... (ESC Distribution)

A slow, distant and perhaps long film, but on the other hand not uninteresting for even a moment. Michael Caine plays a very interesting war criminal character, who alternately arouses sympathy and disgust, I also liked the energetic Tilda Swinton unraveling the untangleable.___P.S. If you have the DVD, try switching to dubbing occasionally. Michael Caine was (for once) voiced by Radoslav Brzobohatý and it's not bad at all.

A well-made movie that has one problem that you have to get over: that it’s so terribly dragged out. However the screenplay failed to milk much from attractive subject matter and overall the movie would have benefited from being cut shorter than its rather over-the-top two-hour running time. Caine and the other actors give us just their standard, rather than any unforgettable performances and so it is a relatively decent, albeit needlessly mediocre movie which certainly could have turned out significantly better.
