Memories in a bowl of steaming noodles, a fading beauty finding her way and a bittersweet first love — all in these stories of city life in China. This triptych anthology film explores the simple joys of life through sensual memories and how the beating heart of love cannot be defeated by the flow of time. anglais This movie features three interesting parts, all about real life. One is about a love of noodle soup and how some things change and other things stay the same. This was probably the most enjoyable story of the three for me personally, not only because the food was very nicely portrayed, but mostly because I found it so balanced, interesting, and poetic. (8/10) The second part concerns friendship and love between siblings. It did not really resonate with me at first due to the choice of subject matter (fashion), even though it is nicely paced with a sweet ending (7.5/10). What about the third story? This is simply an abbreviated version of Makoto Shinkai's 5 Centimeters per Second, only with cassette tapes instead of letters and a much more satisfying (but at the same time more generic) ending for me personally (7,5/10). All of the narratives featured very good animation, and for example, the shot of Shanghai at night from the window was really great, plus it had an excellent soundtrack. It was a pleasant experience! 7.7/10. ()
