(Amazon Prime Video)

Good Omens (2019)

anglais If you’re not a fan of Terry Pratchett's books, don't watch the series, you won't enjoy it. If you are a zealous devotee of the greatest of carpenters and have no sense of humor, don’t watch the series, or else you might suffer a stroke. If you haven't read anything by the above-mentioned author, you'd better fix that before watching the series, so you know what you're in for. If you have read “Discworld” and “Good Omens”, you will definitely enjoy it. What annoys me about British cinema at the moment is the dumb political correctness. There was a lot of it here that I had to suffer through. As you can tell from the five-star rating, it didn’t stop me from having a great time. ()

Season 1 (2018) (S01)

anglais If Terry Pratchett's books aren't your thing, then this series probably isn't either. It's advisable to delve into Pratchett's works before diving into this season, as familiarity with his style will enhance your appreciation. Fans of Discworld and Good Omens are sure to enjoy this series. My only gripe with this British series lies in its adherence to political correctness, which I found irksome. Despite that, I had a great time. / Lesson learned: Terry Pratchett is a guarantee of quality for me. ()

Au Commencement (2019) (S01E01)

anglais Being an avid Terry Pratchett reader, I approached this adaptation with two potential reactions in mind. The first option was to nitpick and criticize any deviations from the original book, while the second was to embrace the excitement of seeing one of my favorite novels come to life. After watching the first episode, it's safe to say that the latter prevailed. Pratchett's trademark humor was delightfully present, David Tennant embodied Bill Nighy perfectly, and overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. ()

Le Livre (2019) (S01E02)

anglais The second episode skillfully built upon the storyline introduced in the first. I thoroughly enjoyed it and had a great time watching. ()

Des temps difficiles (2019) (S01E03)

anglais The first half felt like a delightful historical jaunt with an angel and a demon. I was so immersed in the plot that when the opening credits rolled in after nearly thirty minutes, I was flabbergasted. It's the kind of storytelling Terry Pratchett would have undoubtedly appreciated. ()

La Récré du samedi matin (2019) (S01E04)

anglais Yet again, I'm unequivocally giving this five stars. It's as if the creators crafted this just for me (how did they know?). This is precisely what I've been craving for ages. And, Neil Gaiman, I owe you an apology for neglecting you in favor of Terry Pratchett. You deserved better, my friend. ()

La Solution des temps derniers (2019) (S01E05)

anglais The author duo behind the book adaptation infused it with a fantastic sense of humor, which I absolutely loved. Their ability to poke fun at one of the world's most widely read nonsense was spot on. Episode five continued this trend of excellence, offering yet another enjoyable experience. ()

Le Tout Dernier Jour du reste de leur vie (2019) (S01E06)

anglais No surprises here, my rating remains unchanged. While I found the key confrontation at the air base somewhat weak, it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the final part. If anything, I'm relieved that there were no major mishaps in the end. ()

Season 2 (2023) (S02)

anglais When I first tuned into the second series, I braced myself for potential disappointment considering Terry Pratchett's understandable yet concerning absence from its creation. Initially, my worries seemed unfounded, but soon enough, it felt like something went off the rails, and the show started pandering to political correctness, which I never encountered in Pratchett's work. I can only imagine Terry Pratchett rolling in his grave, deeply disappointed by the neglect of his trademark humor, which was gentle yet incisive. It's a profound letdown that taints the entire series. / Lesson learned: The new BBC is evil. 3*- ()

Chapter 1: The Arrival (2023) (S02E01)

anglais Going into the first episode of the second season, I had my reservations, especially considering Terry Pratchett's absence from the continuation of Good Omens. I can't help but wonder if Neil Gaiman squeezed every last drop out of their former collaboration. Despite my initial concerns, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the first episode. The only downside was the blatant catering to every conceivable minority and interest group by the BBC, even more so than Netflix. / Lesson learned: The worst thing about Christian heaven? It's not the boredom or sterility; it's the fact that you only get a yogurt and two rolls for lunch. ()

Chapter 2: The Clue Featuring the Minisode a Companion to Owls (2023) (S02E02)

anglais Pratchett's trademark humor may be missing, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this unconventional take on a biblical tale. It was clear that the BBC aimed to avoid offending anyone. Ricky Gervais would likely push the boundaries further. Still, I found myself laughing and appreciating Crowley's presence. / Lesson learned: When God keeps throwing challenges your way, you might have done something to piss him off. ()

Chapter 3: I Know Where I’m Going Featuring the Minisode the Resurrectionists (2023) (S02E03)

anglais The third episode didn't really advance the plot much. I usually hate filler episodes, but I found myself oddly entertained by this one. The flashback scenes, in particular, set a good tone for me, blending graveyard humor with a pleasantly unpleasant Poe-esque vibe. I'll admit, though, the present-day storyline left me a bit bored. / Lesson learned: There's no stopping progress, even if it means emptying cemeteries. 4*- ()

Chapter 4: The Hitchhiker Featuring the Minisode Nazi Zombie Flesheaters (2023) (S02E04)

anglais Well, the fourth episode left me pretty disappointed. There was zero progress in the storyline, just nothing happening. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the time travel aspect. It felt like a major step back compared to the graveyard scenes in the last episode. The three zombies and the magic show in East End didn't really do it for me either. But here's hoping things pick up in the next episodes. Fingers crossed. / Lesson learned: If you're after an adrenaline rush at any cost, try Russian roulette. ()

Chapter 5: The Ball (2023) (S02E05)

anglais A completely different episode from last time. Nevertheless, I had a great time this time and I am glad that the creators included the Seamstresses' Guild, which was a respected institution in Discworld. ()

Chapter 6: Every Day (2023) (S02E06)

anglais It was really unpleasant to watch how Terry Pratchett was completely erased from the final episode, leaving only pandering to political correctness that pretended to be part of the story. / Lesson learned: I can endure almost anything, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. ()
