anglais A psychologically rich and intriguing portrayal, particularly in the relationship between a kind-hearted soldier and a black prisoner, which gradually transitions into a very unique and personal love affair, with one of the most peculiar women in the history of cinema playing a role. The characters are excellent, with an immense emotional foundation. At one moment, you feel sadness, only to be smiling moments later. Neil Jordan has a unprecedented way of captivating viewers, and the key revelation in the middle of the film is truly a dense and profound matter for the resilient. ()

anglais A film with great, more or less expected twists that take the story somewhere completely different. A film about how love is complicated, to the point that even its very participants are unable to truly know if they love, what or whom they love, and how much they are willing to sacrifice for their love. Stephen Rea is amazing, Jaye Davidson is beautiful, and of course, the great Jim Broadbent in a supporting role. But the story... ()
