Portrait of one of the last great Hollywood movie producers, Joe Levine. Levine grew up in the back streets of Boston, but made a lightning career in the film industry. In the fifties, he reaped fame as a distributor and promoter of Italian neo-realist films. With his commercial successes, he managed to cover the losses he incurred with smaller, more artistic films. In Showman, we see Levine in great form during the hyped-up promotional campaign for the film Two Women (La Ciociara, by Vittorio de Sica in 1961), which won leading actress Sophia Loren an Oscar. A period when success smiled on Levine. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
