Western pop music, from The Beatles to Nirvana, only seeped through piecemeal to Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia, over the last decades. Today it has a vibrant music scene, complete with video clips, boy bands and all other Western clichés. Traditional throat singing still lives on, however, especially among grunge bands.
