Murder in Polná is an exciting drama of a detective story. In 1899, on Holy Saturday on the road between the village of Věžnička and the town of Polná, the dead body of the young seamstress Agnes Hrůzová was found. She was nineteen years old. She had a deep stab wound in her throat and probably bled to death. The murderer didn't rape her. Local doctors seemed to think that there wasn't enough clotted blood on the scene and there was a ready answer to the question of where the "missing" blood was; the Jews had used it to make their Passover matzo. And on hand was her potential murderer: the sassy and very clever young Leopold Hilsner, a Jewish tramp and beggar... (Zlín Film Festival)
