American politics and media are aptly satirized in this feature by firebrand comedian Ricky Gervais. A pretentious radio journalist and his ineffectual technician botch an assignment in South America, and decide to fabricate an on-the-scene story while hiding out in a New York City apartment. This scheme spirals out of their control when their escalating story becomes a national headline. (Tribeca Film Festival)

anglais When Ricky Gervais get invited somewhere, he usually offends half of Hollywood. But when he’s shooting a comedy together with Hollywood, he’s usually holding his humor in check. But I must say that although I used to consider the humor of his comedies a bit mediocre, I got used to it and found Special Correspondents rather entertaining. Even though it is allegedly a remake. It was nice. The theme is great in itself and a few scenes, despite the general averageness, managed to elevate it to the fourth star. ()

anglais I admit, this was quite disappointing. I was expecting a bit more humor from Ricky Gervais and maybe a more elaborate story. With this one, you just know how it's going to turn out, which is a bit of a problem. The individual scenes are not sufficiently developed and the relationships seem more banal than real. This didn't go so well. ()
