Jonas Mekas - José Luis Guerin: Carta 2. A Letter to José Luis #1

The first American reply, which stylistically isn't much different, travels from New York to Barcelona. Mekas gives us a glimpse into his private life in Brooklyn where it's snowing; we hear music, voyeurs into his privacy. Now we begin to understand the descriptive style that dominates both letters. We familiarize ourselves with the environment in which they create, in which they move and from which they draw inspiration. While it might appear traditional at first glance, they're in their element and, in the context of the entire project, quite experimental. (Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival)
