The idea of conveying to filmgoers the experience of walking through a ghost house with handheld cameras proved to be utterly pointless. ()
Unsatisfactory for me. Found footage with all the clichés: shaky camera, grainy image reminiscent of VHS from the 90s or a better cam rip and of course, as usual, you can't see anything. There’s no gore, the story is ordinary, there is no twist to speak of, only decent make-up effects and sometimes an interesting atmosphere, but that is not enough for me to enjoy the film. Fortunately, I didn't suffer too much while watching it, but there was unfortunately nothing that caught me, surprised me or dazzled me... 45% ()
The film The Houses October Built hides behind the concept that in haunted houses, masks are used, so essentially, any mask can be used, and it will still be believable and considered original. But a killer rabbit? Really? A film about haunted houses that fails to evoke horror is definitely not the best sign for a horror movie, which just continues the trend of cheap horror flicks that have nothing to surprise us with.
