Naeil's Cantabile

Cliché after cliché that's not even very good to watch, and even the classical music doesn't save it – the "sacrifices" for the friends, everybody and their brother has trauma, the lame lame crap humor, the main character's squawking is not cute at all anymore but annoying, there's a pointless love triangle (does it take a third person to make a main character realize he likes the heroine, so much there always has to be a third person who wants the heroine?), no chemistry (maybe only between the violinist lovebirds)... Space and drama were filled with knitting – is that really necessary? In the first half, the story splits between a lot of characters and it's not very engaging to follow. Enthusiasm for the performance, passion for the music – where is it? It completely lacks the grandiosity that classical music has. It was fine here and there, interesting and good to listen to, but most of the time I wasn't into it, it just fell into the usual Korean shallowness. Passionless and full of envy, disdain, and grimacing. (05/12/2014)
