Inspiré par la beauté sauvage des îles tropicales et la splendeur des volcans sous-marins, « Lava » est une histoire d'amour tout en musique et en poésie qui se déroule il y a plusieurs millions d'années. (Walt Disney Company France)

Well yeah, the animation is good; the love story is OK even though it is also a trope, the song was fine, yet I only enjoyed the first two to three minutes. It is really too long, and it is like a merry-go-round at the fair. If I have to listen to it for an hour, I am going to go crazy! A mere average and that is mainly due to the good animation, and I would have a hard time watching it again. 4.3/10. ()
Let's face it, my mouth just dropped from that animation that has been captivating us from the beginning. Absolutely brilliant depiction of nature, islands, animals. Unfortunately, I just had the feeling that it was all about the amazing animation, because the story was simply a nice indulgence for the viewer. It's not bad, but it doesn't say anything essential. Just a touchingly nice little film that excels in its visual aspect. ()
This is probably the first time that a short accompanying a feature-length animated film was qualitatively somewhere else. The amazing Inside Out was preceded by this weird thing about a singing volcano professing its love to another volcano. As nice as the animation was, the story just killed it all, and besides, the theme song felt like a rip-off of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. ()
