After being recruited by Dan Lazarus (Danny McBride), an ambitious pastor looking to raise the profile of his church by creating an exhibition of famous religious artefacts, struggling archaeologist Don Verdean (Sam Rockwell) jets off to the Middle East in search of a number of elusive sacred relics. Accompanied by assistant Carol (Amy Ryan) and local explorer Boaz (Jemaine Clement), Verdean soon encounters difficulties in locating the goods and hatches a plan to fake a number of discoveries. However, with deadlines fast approaching and a difficult Boaz demanding payment to keep their fraudulent plan quiet, Verdean struggles to remain in control as his scheme begins to unravel around him. anglais I wished it would be even weirder, or even funnier, but I didn't get what I wanted. I also wished that some characters were more present, because they were great, especially Boaz, even though he had enough screen time. But after the movie ended, I couldn't shake off one feeling. And that feeling was that it was actually shit. ()
