Marie is a beautiful and lonely 16-year-old who lives in an isolated village on a small island of the west coast of Denmark. Marie's mother is seriously ill, suffering from an unknown disease - on medication, mentally absent and tied to a wheelchair. Marie's father, Thor, runs the small grocery store and tries to make life as normal as possible for the small family. On the surface, everything seems fine - and yet, Marie can't help feeling that Thor is hiding something about her mother's illness. (texte officiel du distributeur)

anglais This movie has an idea, it is original, minimalistic, even mesmerizing in a mystical way but without a soul, emotions or at least one moment where I would say that this movie deserves such attention. But given its premise it is surprisingly boring and no fun at all. ()

anglais It should go deeper into the minds of the characters (we don’t get to know much about them, actually), or push the envelope more with regards to blood and terror. As it is, the film is too vanilla and not disturbing enough; bland, I’d say. It’s too shallow for a depressive Scandinavian drama and too detached for a horror movie. I get the intention of bringing in the Låt den rätte komma werewolves, but it wasn’t successful. ()

anglais What attracted me the most was the dense and oppressive atmosphere of the harsh north underlined by the excellent music. The dark romantic story shrouded in mystery also appealed to me a lot and the ethereal wild woman Marie was likable from the start, so despite some reservations about the horror ending, I rate the film quite highly.
