Nick is an ambitious mafia criminal from the streets of Boston whose life spirals out of control once he becomes a made man. With the lives of his loved ones at risk, including his girlfriend, he must decide what's truly important to him. Rejected by his father after getting drawn into a life of crime, brash Italian-American youth Nick (Ben Barnes) hooks up with the Boston Mafia, and convinces a powerful boss that he has what it takes to become a "Made Man." Subsequently disillusioned by the waning power status of the once-revered criminal outfit, Nick circumvents his boss by enlisting the aid of his best friend George (Slaine) in expanding the organization's business. Nick is successful at first, but everything starts to fall apart when he falls in love with a beautiful woman, Ali (Leighton Meester), and decides to go straight. (HBO Europe)

anglais Watching this movie right after Black Mass sucked. I was able to immediately compare the current limits of Hollywood when it comes to modern gangster movies. Both of them are actually set in a similar setting and on top of that in Boston. But while Black Mass should be the better one and is rather average, this is definitely the worse one and at the same time rather mediocre. In this movie, it was very visible in every scene that they wanted to save every buck. But, on the other hand, it has a quality mobster Harvey Keitel, who is enjoying his character. No wonder, as this is not the first time he’s portraying him. But if you don’t have to watch this movie, skip it. The 105 minutes drag out like the flu through the nasopharynx and the result isn’t worth it. ()

anglais The film has interesting characters and, moreover, a pace which is slower, but that doesn't prevent it from being captivating at the right moments. Ben Barnes portrayed his role wonderfully and was a perfect fit for the role of a somewhat insecure mafia hitman. Unfortunately, there are more deaf spots than there should be. ()
