This is a story of poor singer Anna Marie from the Lisbon's quarter of Alfama, who, thanks to her talent, becomes a part of a theatrical revue, and of the bohemian cream of the society. Her success in theatre is the reason why she leaves her beloved Júlio, a carpenter and guitar-player, and decides to live the life of a star. In the end she proves that the façade of success did not change her, and she returns to him the moment desperate Júlio is leaving for Africa. (Summer Film School)
