The zombies are stalking again. However, on this occasion humanity has managed to escape the attack thanks to a protein that counteracts the effects and stops some from turning definitively into non-dead. With the epidemic under control, everyone is living in apparent harmony... until the supply of the miracle potion starts to become scarce. Kate, who works at a research center, and her boyfriend Alex, a returned, try to save themselves. (Sitges Film Festival)

anglais An excellent idea about how to have an original take on the zombie apocalypse. The creators don’t get all the juice out of it,though, which is a pity, but The Returned has its strong moments. It’s very well made and the climax even managed to arouse some emotions (though the ending maybe is trying a bit too much). A pleasant surprise from the director of the below-par The Possession of Emma Evans. 7/10 ()

anglais In this case, the Spanish-Canadian collaboration, in my opinion, paid off. The only issue I see is that the film is marketed as a horror, which might not be entirely accurate. It is not a horror film, as there are no horror moments or the necessary atmosphere. It's partly a science fiction film, a film about people who have different views of the world. It's not revelatory in that sense, but it's certainly interesting. ()
