anglais A wannabe The Shield, which after the almost ridiculous opening phase in which "everyone is kind of really tough, really badass, really ambivalent so it looks like we're in an uncompromising crime series, but under the rough exterior, we hide our hearts in the right place and we found the surprisingly quickly (about halfway through the first season). Chicago P.D. never gets out from under the shadow of it unconcealed inspirations, but it surprisingly doesn't often get lost in that shadows. It doesn't have the complexity of those role models and the characters are not profound, but there are currently not many harsh crime series that would be watchable while maintaining their quality. Yes, it's consumer crime fun about rough street cops (played by male and female models) who pretend to be tough, issue threats, fight, rob criminals and lie to themselves. We are not talking about the same level of sophistication at which Don Winslow, James Ellroy, Shawn Ryan and Sidney Lumet work. However, Dick Wolf and his team do not pretend to strive for anything like that. After a hard day at work, they want to entertain and satisfy fans of the genre with a tough crime series from the streets, since such viewers have been somewhat forgotten recently. And they did more than a good job. If nothing else, the main character is played by Jason Beghe, who provides the driving force of the series, even when drags a bit. | S1: 4/5 | ()
