The only hope for the tiny outport of Tickle Head is a new Petrochemical plant, but in order to qualify for the bid they need to prove they have a resident doctor. When fate sends Dr. Paul Lewis (Kitsch) their way, unemployed fisherman, Murray French (Gleeson) mobilizes the town to do everything they can to convince the fast living, jazz loving, cricket playing doctor that their sleepy harbour is a paradise tailor-made just for him. anglais The Grand Seduction has an absolutely unmistakable atmosphere of the islands on the outskirts of Canada, which were once occupied by Irish settlers who now don’t want to lose their homes. I have never heard about these islands, but they look similar to, for example, Faroe Islands. And the locations were not the only thing that caught my attention in the movie. The premise and the cast, with Brendan Gleeson in the lead role, were great too. Thanks to them I fell in love with the film, so I couldn’t feel anything but positive thoughts after the end of this life story of a few people living on one island. And if this doesn’t work for you, then at least the ending itself, which puts the story of an oil company versus people looking for a job at the forefront, will do that for you. It is up to you which side you choose. Seen based on the Challenge Tour 2015. ()
