The film was made at a time when the idea cultivating silkworms for silk production in Czechoslovakia was being popularized and it describes their cultivation, silk production and the way silk came to Europe. (Zlín Film Festival)

There exists no better documentary on the subject given that even the boiling of silkworm larvae in order to utilize the fibers from its cocoon is presented very poetically. Namely, that sleep in the expectation of becoming a butterfly becomes an eternal sleep.
