Emily is 16 years old when she meets Maciek - a handsome alpha male seven years her senior. Maciek is an unfulfilled musician and an employee of a pharmaceutical company. There is an outbreak of violent passion between them. Maciek introduces her not only to the world of erotic initiation, but also true emotions and feelings. The older man continuously impresses Emilia, who was brought up without a father. However, idyllic love slowly turns into a toxic relationship destroying both sides. Emilia's acceptance to college is a turning point in the relationship. It is then when she starts becoming independent, that she notices other fascinating worlds and other men. Maciek and Emily begin to act destructively toward each other. They cannot be together nor live without each other. (Zlín Film Festival)

L'une des meilleures expériences filmiques de ces dernières semaines, voire de ces derniers mois. Magistralement réalisée, l’histoire relate un grand amour dévorant, avec toute la splendeur et la tragédie qu'il contient. La réalisatrice, bien que débutante, s'est fixé une tâche difficile, car des histoires d’amour, on en a écrit et tourné à la pelle et sous une infinité de formes. Pourtant, elle tire son épingle du jeu en présentant la chose sur deux segments temporels distincts et en y injectant en plus une intrigue policière, ce qui suffit à tenir le spectateur en haleine jusqu’au final haut en couleur. Pour ma part, j’étais scotché à mon siège, d’autant plus qu'avec son thème musical central, Big Love atteint véritablement le statut d'œuvre inoubliable ; il est d’ailleurs étonnant que ce film n’ait pas connu plus de succès en Pologne. Pour finir, je saluerai la performance exceptionnelle des deux acteurs principaux. Et pour moi, ce film visionné avec ma copine à l’hôtel Polonia, à Varsovie, constituait un agréable cadeau pour ma fête.
