Un film d’épouvante honnête dont le style est plutôt intimiste. Le dénouement était assez inattendu et précipité, mais on reste légèrement au-dessus de la moyenne. ()
"Jessabelle" is another product of the modern horror industry that has an idea but is not well-executed. It is simply just entertainment that showcases its imperfections, even with a midday scene that serves no purpose other than to impress the creators and wink at the audience. It's not because they wanted to repay the viewers, but simply because they didn't know what else to do. A bad film that essentially lacks horror moments. And if there are any, they are just copied from others. ()
I'll start my review with the positives - Sarah Snook was cast in the lead role, and she is really nice to look at. That's as far as the positives go. There’s no way this can be called a horror film. The horror in it was represented by the obligatory jump scares that are already getting old. But the story didn't work very well even as a thriller, and I had a feeling that it somehow didn't hold together. This really didn't work out. ()
What a lazy film! The creators evidently took the path of least resistance, recycled everything they could and really, really avoided doing anything interesting, let alone untraditional, God forbid! Not a single interesting scene, not a single interesting jump-scare. Utterly empty. The recent Annabelle at least had that brisk camera work and a couple of effective jump-scares, but this one is also boring in its execution, like made for TV. ()
