Un nouveau spectacle de danse moderne se prépare au Living Center de New York sous la haute autorité de sa mystérieuse directrice Candice Norman. Au cours des auditions, les plus talentueuses danseuses rivalisent de virtuosité. Mais dès les premiers jours, l’une d’entre elles, Susan, est sauvagement assassinée par un tueur masqué. Malgré l’arrivée de la police menée par le lieutenant Borges, un second meurtre est perpétré contre une autre participante : la charmante Janice.
