Trois trentenaires aux surnoms d'animaux passent leur temps libre attablés au bistrot du Zoo. Le cours de leur vie bascule lorsque l'un d'eux décide de rencontrer la présentatrice radio dont la voix le fait fantasmer depuis de nombreuses années. Au même moment, un tueur à gage fait son apparition...Une comédie originale et rafraîchissante qui fait la part belle à Bratislava, la capitale slovaque. (CinEast)

Well thought out in terms of marketing (Bratislava, famous faces, the promise of something “different”), unoffensive in terms of filmmaking craft (nice “French” cinematography), fresh in its details, impertinent and even funny once or twice (the pitchfork), but admirably nonconceptual overall. There is no internal logic to the constant change of style (relationship comedy, crime movie, social drama) and the shifting of emphasis between characters, none of whom ends up being the main one in spite of the prologue. Furthermore, the ostentatious breaking of all rules should be done according to at least some rules. In the end, Tigers in the City is suitable particularly for analysing the number of levels at which a film can be dysfunctional due to the lack of a goal and subject. 35%
