Na-mi, a forty-something mother and housewife married to a successful businessman, lives a seemingly perfect life. After meeting a high school friend she remembers the time of her growing up, when her family moved from the countryside to Seoul and she became a member of a girl fellowship called Sunny. Due to an unfortunate incident the group broke apart and Na-mi decides to reunite her friends after twenty five years. The charming dramedy from the director of the successful comedy Scandal Makers became the second top grossing film in Korea this year, which proves the popularity of lower budget films in Korea, as they are currently attracting more viewers than big budget spectacles. anglais Basically, I have nothing more to add than what JFL wrote. The naive past and the present... although it tries to play on a realistic string, it's more of an adult fairy tale, where I thought I'd just let myself get swept up in the whirlwind of excitement and emotion the filmmakers were trying to throw at the viewer, but the ending let me down. Not so much the fairy tale gifts, but the very last scene, which for me completely overturned its combination of a fairytale quality with a slight bitterness. And honestly, I couldn't quite figure out which adult was which girl in the end. Only three were 100% clear to me, the third only because she was obese everywhere. I understand that the film can enchant you when you’re drawn into its melancholy and other such feelings, but somehow that didn't transfer to me. So maybe next time I'll finally get lucky enough to see a Korean film that wins me over. ()

anglais This is the second best Asian comedy I've seen. My beloved Scandal Makers still holds the top spot. And since these two films are from the same director, I have a hunch who gets the credit. I'm finally starting to get their humor properly. The characters are perfectly drawn, so I feel like I've known them for a while. The linking of the present and the past, including the choice of actresses, was also well done. The final dance was absolutely flawless. I've never seen Korean "girls" rock out like that before... bravoooo! 4.5 stars. ()
