Godard Made in USA

An unconventional documentary that doesn’t focus on the already rather exhausted topic of Godard’s work as such, but exclusively on Godard’s ties to the United States. Most of the film’s space is given over to New Hollywood filmmakers (Friedkin and Schrader do most of the talking, while Hellman and Bogdanovich utter about two sentences) who attempt to describe how (specifically and generally) they were inspired by the French New Wave, why they didn’t draw from it more and what, in their opinion, comprises Godard’s contribution to cinema. The documentary’s digestibility is aided by its reasonable runtime and playful form, which imitates the style of Godard’s films. (10/06/2013)

Un document professionnellement réalisé qui se concentre principalement sur les premières années créatives de Godard et sur le début de sa période "politique". La principale qualité est les interviews avec des réalisateurs américains importants qui, dans leurs souvenirs, réfléchissent à la propre création de Godard ainsi qu'à l'influence qu'elle a eue sur leur travail et leurs opinions sur le cinéma en général.
