Quality shows up where I wasn’t expecting it this year. In Their Sleep is a very good European horror thriller, which means that when it comes to the characters, there won’t be anyone very likeable and that their behaviour will be questionable at times, but when it comes to atmosphere and brutality (which here isn’t too extravagant, but, er… nicely sharp), there is nothing to complain about. Immediately after watching it my rating was around nine out of ten points, a day later I see it more like a comfortable eight. In a year as poor as this, this is one of the most interesting genre pieces.
