Fashionable reboots are also flirting with a particular gaming cult, and it’s clearly not riding the Anderson wave of "literal adaptation" but a darkened stylization with mythology set in a more realistic world. It doesn't matter that there is only one fistfight because the remaining eight minutes fulfill their purpose perfectly. If the director sticks around the studios long enough, he might eventually make a feature-length version. I hope he succeeds.

Michael Jai White is solid as a detective. The plot and the action are excellent. Could have been longer. 8/10.
