anglais Harry Piel's action comedies had their unmistakable charm, especially in the interwar years, and were very popular. Exotic exteriors, thrilling plots, humor - Piel handled all this smoothly. The Million Pound Note is all the better because, in addition to directing, Harry also plays a double role. For Marlene Dietrich in a supporting role, this film was another promising step to the top, as she was about to ascend to the lead roles alongside Willi Forst and Harry Liedtke. So far, she has only artfully worked with numerous costumes and automatically appropriated every scene she has appeared in. Up to that point, she’d had mainly theatrical training, but she perfectly handled ironic humor and the art of flirtation. ()
