Harry Piel's action comedies had their unmistakable charm, especially in the interwar years, and were very popular. Exotic exteriors, thrilling plots, humor - Piel handled all this smoothly. The Million Pound Note is all the better because, in addition to directing, Harry also plays a double role. For Marlene Dietrich in a supporting role, this film was another promising step to the top, as she was about to ascend to the lead roles alongside Willi Forst and Harry Liedtke.
