Blair Witch Project meets Dark Woods meets (spoiler) meets (even bigger spoiler). Cheap Scandinavian horror set deep in the woods, far from civilisation, where a group of five researchers is exposed to an unknown evil. Their relationships are not the best already at the beginning and they get worse as the problems pile up, and on top of that, there is something out there… This is a low-key horror gem with a fantastic atmosphere (I put it on at midnight and after a long time I felt really scared). The possibilities of the creators were clearly limited by the low budget, so there are a couple of things that deviate from the “ideal”, but personally, I see no reason to not recommend The Unknown.
