anglais This is a film full of paradoxes. The color CinemaScope is used mainly for interiors. The main trio of models is a priceless, mismatched combination, yet Betty Grable, Marilyn Monroe, and Lauren Bacall do in fact have something to say to each other. The script is a dime-store novel elevated to something spectacular, the model for two plays: "The Greeks Had a Word for It" (1930) by Zoe Akins and "Loco" (1946) by Katherine Albert. It's one of the few Marilyn Monroe movies I've watched all my life and don't mind. The timeless potential is confirmed by the remakes in the 1957 sitcom of the same name, a modern TV sequel How to Marry a Billionaire: A Christmas Tale from 2000 and the fact that Nicole Kidman bought the rights to another remake for herself after 2007.
