In this light comedic hyperbole we watch the story of decent and kind doctor Čeněk Dobešek who, however, almost does not fit the today´s world. Despite being a conscientious doctor, he cannot use his job or mission for his own benefit like other his colleagues from school or from the hospital. Satisfied with his life next to his nice wife Zuzana and, unfortunately, also next to his horrid mother-in-law Marie Košvancová in a 2+1 apartment in a block of flats, he gladly, at any time, meets wishes of all who ring his bell and request his services. With his submissive modesty and willingness he tempests his mother-in-law, who would like her son-in-law to be a doctor with capital D, i.e. someone, who is first of all a recognized person earning huge money. Not serving to everyone for free like Čeněk does. (texte officiel du distributeur)

anglais I gave the film a chance... And that was a mistake. Seriously, I thought, maybe it won't turn out so bad, maybe I'll even have fun. At least a little. Well, I didn't have fun, and yet the script prepared so many, ahem, situations for me. Especially the auto-amputation of the main character's right rear cheek. Oh, my God. I can imagine the laughter that ripped through the theaters at this scene. Oh dear. I must admit, however, that Zdeněk Troška is a master in at least one field. It takes a great deal of self-confidence, or rather audacity, to incorporate advertisements into the "plot" the way he did this time.___P.S. The final song, in which Petr Kolář sings poignantly, for example, "The Zebra urinates and stares as I pick myself up from the puddle", is also perfect. ()

anglais I still think that Troška is a fairly good director and he is able to create a scene that evokes what he wants - humor, tension, etc. The problem, however, is that he has a script at his disposal that is simply bad as a whole. It's incredibly predictable and simple. The characters have no depth, and worst of all, it's not funny. And that's quite a problem for a comedy. Furthermore, the film promises exoticism, but it is basically missing here. Some motifs are unused and the film drags on with banalities. The script is really very bad. If 50% of the characters were removed, nothing would change. ()
