Alors qu'il compte impatiemment les jours qui le séparent de la retraite, Jack Mabry se retrouve chargé du dossier de Gerald « Stone » Creeson, afin de décider si celui-ci peut bénéficier d'une libération conditionnelle. Incarcéré pour avoir maquillé le meurtre de ses grands-parents en déclenchant un incendie, Stone doit convaincre Mabry qu'il s'est réhabilité. I understand what Stone is trying to do, but the problem is that this is not what a psychological drama should be. The script and direction are both helpless, and the result is only one star for Edward Norton's traditionally excellent performance. Otherwise, major talent is required to kill a cast and a promising concept like this. Overall impression: 25%.

I’m mainly sorry for the criminally under-utilized cast. I mean, the topic of Stone isn’t bad at all, but the script doesn’t offer much and the director didn’t manage to give the movie anything apart from some pretty shots. And the ending was one big disappointment.

I didn’t expect such a travesty. The cast is decent, unfortunately only on the poster. Otherwise, it's average, or rather, below average (Milla Jovovich). A film without energy, without emotions, without any significant scenes. Robert "sit the fuck down" De Niro hasn't been lucky with good projects lately. John Curran is not a good filmmaker.
