True Blood (2008)

anglais After five and a half seasons of this series, a wonderful new world opened up before me from the novels of Charlaine Harris known as "The Sookie Stackhouse Novels." An alternate reality in which vampires have left their coffins and become part of "our" lives. I find it very sympathetic that Harris openly admits to being inspired by the world of Anne Rice, because the only place in America that I consider a natural habitat for vampires is, quite simply, Louisiana, with its ubiquitous Mississippi swamps. The individual characters become interesting story agents over the course of a few episodes and evolve until they pass out of sight. I hope it's not going to be forever just with Sookie and Bill. ()

Season 1 (2008) (S01)

anglais Season 1 is a very straightforward series. Right from get-go its focused on the point, Sookie the waitress meets Bill the vampire, and everything slowly connects with a whole tree of supporting characters to resolve the main detective plot in the finale. While solving a series of murders, Sookie grows up a lot, and her brother Jason faces multiple murder charges and goes insane. We also learn a little bit about the world of vampires, which is not as black and white as the contemporary media tries to present it. ()

Season 2 (2009) (S02)

anglais Season 2 provides us with a new plot and excellent back channels. By this time, Sookie is Bill's full partner and helper in solving supernatural problems. Their relationship and the story culminate in the most exquisite proposal I've ever seen in a series. The vampire underworld also plays out wonderfully and we meet their queen. ()

Season 3 (2010) (S03)

anglais Unfortunately, Season 3 throws everything away, with Sookie losing (and finding) Bill and unwittingly accepting Alcide the werewolf into her circle of friends. The vampire underworld is thickening and preparing for anarchy. Each state has its king, and all of them have their own history and loyalty to their creators. On the other hand, the bloody romance thickens, Hedley and the fairies show their true colors, and Russell Edgington turns out to have incredible balls. ()

Season 4 (2011) (S04)

anglais Season 4 is somewhat disconnected from the previous storyline, taking place after a one-year hiatus, and surprises us with a mature witch mission. Sookie comes to like the changed Eric, a once arrogant vampire who used to be a threat to Bill, but who is now made into a lamb when he loses his memory. ()

Season 5 (2012) (S05)

anglais Season 5 offers a continuation of the anarchic efforts of the kings of the states. Although not everything is as it seems... The divine Lilith comes to the fore and the fairy wars do not cease. ()

Season 6 (2013) (S06)

anglais Season 6 directly builds on the cliffhanger of the last series, and Bill/Lilith is a more complicated character than one would think, but of course it's better than Bill/King of Louisiana. The new Pam/Tara main-text couple is then consummated by Jessica's love for her creator. Sookie slowly makes the transition to Team Wookiee, Eric buries his sister, but Sarah Newlin's concentration camp is nevertheless responsible for everything. There's a new generation of fairies running around Merlotte's, Terry's is close to dying, and we wonder - is anyone left working in that bar? The point is that true Catholicism can save even the likes of Jason Stackhouse. ()

Season 7 (2014) (S07)

anglais Before Season 7 begins, we buy Bill Compton's book "And God Bled" and find out our preference for the Sookie/Alcide pairing. Because there's a new bloodbath brewing at Bellefleur's old bar and grill, and hep V is a more dangerous virus than Sarah could ever have hoped for. Will Jessica ease her conscience? The new and final season is just great, and all the Bon Temps characters have their roles in the new war against zombies. The END is excellent, and I find myself sinking into a very pleasant nostalgia and mourning. ()
