anglais I'm probably not offending anyone in particular when I write that this Holmesian parody is really an unprecedented silliness. But remarkable, of course. The humor you will see here is in no way comparable to the "humor" of contemporary SOMETHING-movie parodies. It's very, very, very simple, one-note, and makes no sense, just like the story (or rather "story"). However, it was precisely because of this undisguised simplicity that the film caught my attention. Douglas Fairbanks just does more and more dope and acts extremely goofy from start to finish, and the others aren't much better. If the whole thing had half the runtime and there was no protracted beach passage, it would not be less stupid, but certainly more brisk and hopefully more fun. ()
