anglais Although the film is not perfect and would have benefited from a longer running time and a less rushed finale, it is without exaggeration gripping and something interesting happens from beginning to end. My favorite part was everything that happened before Philip's death, and apart from Richard Burton's excellent-as-always- performance, the film owes a lot to Danielle Darrieux as Olympias and the cleverly intriguing dialogue put in their mouths (not only) by the screenwriters. But that doesn't mean that the next part with Darius, played by another favorite of mine, Harry Andrews (hidden in a black Persian beard), is any worse. I round up four and a half stars for the final javelin throw. ()
