It's more of a crime drama with comedic elements, but it's light, with great performances and the right amount of warm humanity that such productions should have. Jiřina Bohdalová is of course perfect in the role of a simple woman accused of murder, but like her, I liked the aristocrat Květa Fialová and the hesitant judge Petr Kostka. If I had to compare Idiotka to some more well-known works, from the classics it would be Inherit the Wind, and from contemporary films Bridge of Spies. Seriously.
