A little-known but charming film on the frequently occurring theme of clashes between a non-conforming individual and society. This imaginative film with a series of humorous catchphrases and situations depicts the coming of age and emotional maturation of a young boy marked by an unconventional upbringing by his parents and burdened with higher intelligence, creativity, and analytical ability. What may be a disadvantage and subject to bullying in a certain environment can become a starting point for a brilliant career elsewhere, but the price is usually high... The best parts were the dialogues between Placid and his boss, who once let himself be "tamed" by the system in a similar situation and simply sees himself in his talented subordinate... The advantage of Tony McNamara's film is its perspective and absence of moralizing. The film is suitable for intellectuals as well as for those who just want to enjoy themselves. Overall impression: 90%. ()
