Mitumba: The Second-Hand Road

Inu, the idea is excellent, but the execution is purely average. It lacks a more drastic cut, the documentary indulges in long shots of endless piles of sorted textiles or in genre pictures depicting the poverty of African cities. The film is either too long or (rather) lacks a deeper analysis, more facts, and visual material to convey its message. The music background is also miserable - those exhausted sounds of the accordion will unfortunately resonate in my ears for a long time... Overall impression 55%. (18/08/2007)
