Dr. Balázs Sándor sets out on a motor tour in an effort to get away from Terka, his hysterical girlfriend. While going for a swim in the Danube, his car and his clothes get stolen by Asztalos Péter, singer in a bar and now out of work. The car, driven by the thief, collides with a horse-cart driven by Galambos Panni, daughter of the Beregház landowner. Introducing himself as Balázs Sándor, he then takes the girl home and leaves, after a cup of coffee, as Panni's fiancé. Because her "fiancé" seems to have gone up in smoke, Panni goes to Pest in search of the man. However, instead of finding her fiancé at the address she has been given, she finds the real Balázs Sándor, who, with the assistance of detectives, finds the man, but Panni is by then in love with Balázs himself.
