When the film ended, a woman in the row behind me said: “That wasn’t funny at all, it was awfully dry!” Yes, unentertaining blaxploitation, poorly directed and edited. William Marshall (Blacula), originally a stage actor, clearly doesn't understand the mess he's in, so he plays dutifully and with passion. He wasted his energy in a bad movie. But the film was successful, and there was a sequel: Scream, Blacula, Scream. ()
