With his brother Peter enduring the misery of measles at home , 14-year-old Tom Long (Anthony Way) is whisked from harm’s way to live with his Aunt Gwen (Greta Scacchi) and Uncle Alan (James Wilby) in a typical English flat without the benefit of a garden retreat. Restless and without exercise, one day Tom makes a remarkable discovery – when, after midnight, Gwen and Alan's clock strikes thirteen, transforming the squalid alley behind their home into a scenic wonderland bristling with the promise of adventure. Here he meets Hatty (Florence Hoath), a 12-year-old orphan girl who challenges Tom to embark on the journey of his young life. (Umbrella Entertainment)
