During a snowy winter in the small fictional town of Knight's Ridge, Massachusetts, a group of lifelong buddies hang out, drink and struggle to connect with the women who affect their decisions, dreams and desires. Tommy "Birdman" Rowland and Kev, his sidekick, plow snow for a living. A former campus stud, Tommy continues to harbor feelings for his ex-girlfriend Darian, complicating his relationship with current lover Sharon. Paul Kirkwood lives with Birdman and also plows snow. Inexorably drawn to supermodels and the "ideal" woman, he refuses to commit to Jan, his girlfriend of seven years. Traveling from New York where he works the piano bar circuit, Willie Conway is at a crossroads in his life. Although he lives with sharp attorney Tracy Stover, Willie cannot commit to the relationship. In Knight's Ridge, he meets Marty, a 13 year-old "heartbreaker in training" and Andera, Stinky's cousin from Chicago, who compel Willie to reassess the value of his life and his relationship with Tracy. anglais In the last decades, it has become clear that the most faithful visitors to movie theaters and moviegoers in general are teenagers - often the only ones. Thus, what is offered there adapts to their taste as well. There are plenty of romantic love stories edited to fit their needs and expectations, and one can observe the trend of adults behaving like 17-year-old adolescents who refuse to grow up. Beautiful Girls portrays fresh thirty-year-olds who may stumble in their love relationships and nostalgically look back at their adolescent past, but they act appropriately for their age. Surprisingly, it is a mature film about friendship and the challenges of romantic coexistence, not outstanding but likable, trustworthy, and functional even in its details. Additionally, it features a truly strong star-studded cast. Overall impression: 80%. ()

anglais It's not often you see so many familiar faces in one single film, in this case a laid-back and enjoyable one. Though if it weren't for the Hutton-Portman relationship, I would give it one less star. I am wondering what a pity it is that a great actor like Timothy Hutton hasn't appeared in a proper film since he won the Oscar for Ordinary People. He certainly deserves bigger roles ()
